This opening is from Tom Baker's period as the Time Lord. The show ran from 1963-91 and then was relaunched in 2005.

Tom Baker was the best Dr. Who! He's who I think of if Dr. Who is mentioned. Some of the latter ones were a stain on the name!

Tom Baker was good, but I have to disagree about being the best. Personally I've always preferred Jon Pertwee - there was an almost scary quality about his portrayal of Dr Who. I haven't seen it for years, but I hear that the new Doctor (David Tennant) is rated as the best ever.
