Scribas For Others
MiscellaneousAbout Scribas1. What is Scribas?Scribas is a site where you can post and read memories. Memories of towns, of schools, of sports teams, even of TV shows, advertisements and military units. You can write your own biographical Blog with memories of your own childhood, hometown, first school, family and friends. The Flashbacks section of the site will allow you to enjoy some great multi-media memories from decades past. Great video clips of TV shows, adverts, home movies, documentaries and more besides. Listen to historical audio clips or our members reminiscing. And superb historical images to bring your memories flooding back. Our Scribas Hubs are collections of memories written by the collective Scribas community for towns, schools, military units, sports clubs and much more. The best place to start is our Getting Started page, which will give you a brief outline of what Scribas can offer you – and what you can offer Scribas and its community. 2. What content can I add to the Scribas website? There are several different content types that you can add to Scribas, once you are registered with the site:
My Account3. I am having a problem logging in or using the site. How do I get support?Do you have your Scribas username correct? Be careful with capitalization of letters and the inclusion of any numbers, etc. If you have lost your password, you can reset it here. If you are still having difficulty loggin in, get in touch with us. 4. I posted something on the site and it wasn't published. Did I do something wrong? When you first register at Scribas, you are a "New Member" and this means everything you publish on Scribas will first be moderated. This is a process that usually takes less then 24 hours and helps to keep Scribas spam-free and family-friendly. Very soon after you begin to use the site, usually a matter of days, you will become a "Full Member", which will give you full privileges for posting on Scribas. As soon as you become a "Full Member", most of these restrictions will be lifted. For more information about membership levels, see our User Guide. Improving Scribas5. I saw something on Scribas that I consider inappropriate. What do I do?We here at Scribas have very clear guidelines as to what it is or is not acceptable to post on Scribas. If you see something you feel goes against these guidelines, please click on the yellow triangle icon in the top right of every page. That will alert administrators on the site and we can take a look. 6. What do I do if I find an error on the site?We make every effort to ensure the Scribas website is error-free. However, with so much member-generated content, it is inevitable that some errors will slip through. If you find what seems to be a genuine error on the main pages of the Scribas pages you can contact us and we will seek to put it right at the earliest opportunity. 7. I would love to see a new feature on Scribas. Who do I ask?We are always looking for suggestions about new features to add to Scribas, so we would welcome suggestions from you. Get in touch with us and we will look at any recommendations you send our way. You can also post on the Suggestions and Help forum. Scribas For Others8. I would like to include some content I saw on Scribas at my website. Am I allowed? While we would encourage everyone to spread the word about the Scribas site, you need to be cautious about copying content directly from the site. We would recommend reading our Copyright policy to understand what is and is not possible. Using more than a couple of sentences from Scribas on an external website would require the express permission of Scribas, so you would need to contact us to gain the necessary permission to reproduce content in a publication, on a website or in any other form. 9. I would like to place a link on my site to my Scribas page. Do you have icons for this?Yes, if you go to our Link To Us page, you will find both logos and code to make linking to us simpler. Remember you don't have to link to our homepage. If you have a website about Starsky & Hutch, for example, there's no reason why you can't link to our American Cop Shows of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s Hub, for example. Miscellaneous10. How do I advertise with Scribas?Scribas offers many possibilities for companies, websites and individuals to show their advertising on the Scribas site. For more details, please see our Advertising page. 11. What languages is Scribas available in?Scribas is currently only available in English, although the Spanish version is in the pipeline and due for opening at some point in 2011. If you are a speaker of French, Italian, Chinese, German or Portuguese and would like to assist in translating Scribas into your own language, contact us.
